The other TJ’s

Workout7 miles total. gym treadmill run.  speed/tempo run.  flat.  1 mile warmup @ 7:30pace, 4 x 1 mile repeats @6:15 pace with 1/2 mile recovery jogs in between at 7:30 pace.  finished it off with some legs- lunges, plie squats (my favorite.  I’m serious), abductor machine and then some crunches.

I REALLY look forward to speedwork day.  It breaks up the monotony of the running.  I do not jump out of bed at 5:30am with boundless amounts of energy celebrating that I get to go run 7 or 8 miles.  but, if I am going to run, it’s nice to know I’m not doing “just” a run.  know what I mean.  It’s starting to sink into my dense little brain that I need to workout in the am, or at the very least get up BEFORE the kids get me up.  all there is to it.  I drag my limp little body to the gym.  sleep through the warmup mile and kick it into gear.  It’s never easy getting to the gym.  but it’s always a fantastic feeling when I’ve finished and had a great run.  do you agree?  disagree?  no opinion either way?

I traded in my inner maxinista yesterday for another TJ’s.  Trader Joes.  I went once about 6 years ago.  So I got whatever struck my fancy yesterday because it will probably be another 6 years before I go again.  I really wanted to get their Cilantro dressing.  but I couldn’t find it.  truly a sad moment.  Here are some fun things I did get.  I made the picture extra large for you.  the other stuff I got is also fun, but didn’t make the cut.  sorry almond milk and apples.  you are fun to eat but boring to look at.  even if you are called jazz apples.  you still look like apples.

That orange whatever vinegar on the right just said “I would be great on salad” to me, and hopped in the cart.  not sure what else I will do with it.  I’m sure I can come up with something fun.  Then just a shmorgasbord of other things that will come in handy when I’m not sure what to make for dinner.  Spinach and Chive pasta with curry sauce anyone?  We know I love fiber, so those little bagels were irresistable.  the dark chocolate speaks for itself.  and how cute is that little bag of granola?  they are like little mini granola cereal cups.  adorable.  and delish.

The prices really are great there.  It’s funny how I can remember how much different food items cost at every different store in town, but I can’t remember whether or not I put deoderant on this morning.  muy interesante.

Yesterday ended with a splendid little dinner in Northampton.  no pictures.  sorry.  I was cute as a button wearing real clothes and ate some sort of shrimp, roasted pepper, mussel pasta dish.  it was good.  I was too busy catching up with my girl to think about taking pictures.  plus I still think it’s a little odd to do that.  dinner is dinner.  unless it’s made by me and looks awful but tastes fantastic, there probably won’t be pictures.

FYI – my son is Captain Awesome today.  and he is acting the part.  being all sorts of awesome not napping and trying to fly off different pieces of furniture.

and my daughter is laid back Miss America today.  everyday.  she’s just that cool.  and she knows how to whistle.  that’s her talent.

I need an iced coffee.  asap.  load ’em up kids.  emergency trip to the coffee shop.  after I get a shower.  I can’t even stand to be near myself.  that’s a problem.  that makes me think I didn’t put deoderant on this morning.  hope I brushed my teeth at least.  stay tuned for some nonsense talk about minerals and other un-important things that I think are important to talk about.

Do you like to bargain shop grocery stores, or are you one stop shopping?

Have you been to Trader Joes?  Whats your favorite thing to buy there?

Would you rather be Miss America, Captain Awesome (not sure what that entails) or a movie star? or none of the above.  that’s fine too.

About msfitrunner

I am a 29 year old stay at home, hardworking mom to my three little loves! My oldest little darling is 5, little sis is 4 and baby brother is almost 2. I have been married to my Mr. Wonderful for almost 7 years (ahhh!). My faith and my family is my rock, and I have a newfound LOVE for running. Maybe it's more of a necessity at this point - to maintain household peace and my own sanity, but whatever it is, it's working for me and I'm loving the racing. The vegan world has been calling my name, so I am testing out those waters as well! That's a tough one with three little picky eaters at home, but I am having fun coming up with new recipes and trying out new things. Follow along as I chronicle this crazy running life, and ALL the craziness that goes with it!

    • Hmmmm, no. That would have been a good idea though. There was an aisle with dressings and I didn’t see it. I looked in the refrigerated section, but wasn’t looking for that or thinking it would be there, so I didn’t see it. I’ll have to look for it again in 6 years when I’m there 😉

  1. When I first read your title I thought what? Blasphemy! But you are right – trader joe’s is pretty awesome.
As for working out in the morning I highly prefer getting it out of the way but since my husband leaves for work at about 6 am …. That is just too early for this nursing momma.
I guess I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to be a movie star for at least a little bit.

    • I know – it’s horrible to even suggest “another” TJ’s, but I had a darn good time. so many fun things and great deals on everything! too bad it’s just inconvenient for me to go to. maybe next year when the girls are in school full time, Luke and I will spend more time there:-) I always wanted to me miss america when I was little, now I’m thinking movie star for a day would be way cooler;-)
